Should you hire a maid?

Life is now super busy now. Every moving second keeps on demanding a lot of effort of ours. The upcoming demands of professional and personal life account a lot of responsibilities on individual shoulders. Occasionally it becomes impossible to proceed in the life by keeping a proper balance of both the professional and personal lives.

Earlier we all were a part of large joint households where the work load has been distributed equally on everyone. It reduces the work load and aids in sustaining the regular for quite a long time. But with the concept of introduction of nuclear families in the society, the point of distributing the work between lots of the relatives, become invalid or irrelevant.

The need of the hour has flipped the requirement of domestic maid or helper from the outside sources. Most commonly, these helpers are called maids. In simpler terms, maids could be described as the national help that offers an extended support to fulfill the household work requirements. The work done by these maids are reverted with a monetary benefit to these maids. If you try to find the ratio of number of maids in the society, you’ll realize that more than 95% of homes has opted the option of maids in their respective houses.

Depending upon the nature of the job and accessibility of maids, they are categorized as:

1. The essence of their occupation timings would be permanent and they remain within your place.

2. Single shift maid: The category requires the group of maids that comes to a place for a single shift. When the work is completed, they will leave the place and will resume their solutions on the next day. These maids did not stay at your location and comes just when their work hours started.

Gyms are a waste of money

About new year 2017 I made a toast: To give up the gym and get fit.

I know this sounds like a slightly odd inverted new years resolution, but for about 5 years I was a dedicated gymphile (not sure that is a word but there you go). My physique had not changed radically except for slightly greater arm definition and sometimes slightly greater pecs. However, for the effort I was putting in, and of course the money, it was not worth the return on investment.

And what’s happened because I’ve stopped the gym? Well, I have drunk a lot of beer, eaten plenty of cheese and completed some very half assed exercise regimes.

The outcome. I am about the same as I had been when I had been going to the gym.

The response from several gym go-ers will definitely be, well you were not putting enough effort in at the fitness center or else you have been quite good with yourself motivation.

Neither of these statements are true.

Literally. Every. Time.

So my self motivation article gym has been great? Well. Besides that and some runs round the park.

So why do I think you should stop the gym?

First of all, if you are one of those individuals who does about two hours, 4 times a week at the gym and articles selfies on Instagram of you in gym equipment – this doesn’t apply.

If you are one of those folks who goes to your social and seems to know everyone in the area and is full of ideas and stuff… Probably does not apply to you .

I am talking to another 90 percent of the people – the men and women who go because they feel as they should. The individuals who once they get to the gym only go through the motions and do a couple of sets of the that, or worse still only SIT on an exercise bicycle.

You have likely been sat at a desk all day eating cake and you are watching the calories tick on the electronic screen, waiting til it gets to the exact same amount as that Krispy Kreme so that you can go home.

Or, you have to eliminate a stone so it is possible to go on that shore holiday/get in that wedding dress/eat more cake on your birthday.

Do not get me wrong all of these are noble motives to get exercising – and workout you should. But at the gym? Not necessarily.

The fitness center is made for all those body sculptors – the men and women who have actual physical fitness regimes and programs and have an end goal. And they’ll reach that end goal because, well, that is what they really really want. When they are not in the gym they are planning their next trip to the gym and ACTUALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO IT.

If it isn’t do yourself a favor and cancel your gym membership today.

What do I do now ?

Cancelled it? Go you!

I’m joking do not have a doughnut, that is a terrible idea.


Hate to break it to you but that is probably why you are somewhat flabby around the edges. Those’healthy’ breakfast cereals and bars or people low fat thingumyjigs. Swerve it.

What to eat? And not lots of it .

However, you know when you are thirsty?


This makes the exercise piece relatively straightforward.

My routine was that.

I would then get to my very sedentary job, get to lunch and then on my 45 minute lunch break I’d walk as far as possible. Some days that has been 5 or 10 minutes. Other times it was my entire lunch break.

Total active time every day was approximately 1 hour 30 or more.

To amp up any exercise regime it’s often a great idea to have fun while you’re doing it.

I have recently discovered parkour. Yes, parkour is famed for those doing backflips and leaping across roofs but at it’s foundations it’s only a means to get from a to b in a slightly more interesting manner. I will be honest, I am not backflipping or rolling yet, but what I’m doing is jumping on things, pulling myself up trees or walls or doing press ups and sit ups at the park.

Basically, I am doing resistance exercise. Attempting to use my body for those things it was supposed to be used for – climbing, jumping, lifting.

Parkour, for me, is a great one as it actually involves running outside and once I get to a seat I jump on and off it for a little.

If you reside in the nation – or a more compact city closer the nation – good for you.

In the large city it could be harder.

The easiest one is walking. Simply walk as much as possible, as quickly as possible and do it daily. Supplement it with some exercise outside and in the event you can do maybe twenty or ten sit ups and press ups also, you will find some decent results.

Taking up a game is most likely the best way to remain in shape.

But you do it, get some exercise and don’t do it in the gym. Unless you will need a weights rack to sculpt those tight buns of yours, you are only wasting your own money.
